THE PURSUIT
OF GREATNESS

For 50 years, NordicTrack’s standard for innovation has been shaped by the relentless drive of athletes at every level. From breaking records to hitting new milestones, your efforts have always been our inspiration.

In snowy Minnesota, Edward Pauls creates an indoor cross-country ski machine to provide his daughter with a year-round training solution. NordicTrack is born.

1975: The Original Skier

The 1980s marked NordicTrack’s expansion era. Manufacturing moved to Chaska, Minnesota, where woodworking, welding, varnishing, packaging, and mail order operations were all brought under one roof. VHS training tapes were introduced to guide customers during the 30-day trial, reducing returns. By mid-decade, NordicTrack was advertising in major national magazines, cementing its reputation as a household fitness brand.

1980s: From Ski Machine to Scale

As the fitness industry evolved, NordicTrack moved beyond the ski machine into treadmills, ellipticals, and cross-training equipment. Retail “Fitness at Home” stores appeared across the U.S., complementing the brand’s strong direct-mail business. In 1998, Icon Health & Fitness acquired NordicTrack, positioning the company for its next wave of innovation.

Late 1990s: Diversification & Retail Push

Technology became the differentiator. NordicTrack machines began integrating with iFIT, delivering guided workouts, data tracking, and interactive training experiences that personalized fitness in ways never before possible.

2010s: iFIT Smart Coaching

From handcrafted skiers to AI-powered training, NordicTrack continues to redefine home fitness. With adaptive workouts, global routes, and personalized coaching, the brand remains dedicated to helping people pursue their greatness.
